Helping You Turn Information Into KnowledgeMedical Data Systems clinical information systems encompass a complete line of tools for neonatology including the Neonatal Information System™ (NIS), the Infant High-Risk Follow-Up™ (HRF), and the National Neonatal Database™ (NND). Both the NIS and HRF are comprehensive, PC-based systems that support the care of patients through task automation, from daily reports to discharge summaries, quality assessment to clinical pathways. The result is increased efficiency, improved quality, and most importantly, better patient care—all at a substantial cost savings. Each clinical information system developed by MDS is designed to be used at the point of care by the departmental team. Only highly accurate data is captured. The result: physicians and administrators receive the information they need, when they need it. No waiting. No delays. Problem Oriented DesignThe NIS system is designed to handle information in a diagnoses / treatment (problem oriented) format, both on-screen and in the patient report format. The system is designed for daily entry, but supports weekly or chart summary methods of data entry as well. The system records data within multiple levels of detail. For specific topic areas such as respiratory support, labs, procedures, diagnoses and nutrition; you may record multiple levels of detail - including comments and various results for each individual data item. Or, you may simply record that an event occurred, without recording any associated details. The NIS system is flexible, and you define the level of detail required for your institution.
